Winona Ryder professional Winona Ryder, was born in Winona Minnesota. The name she was given by her parents in honor of the town in which she was raised. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father is from an ethnically Jewish background. Ryder has the title of being the younger sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder moved along with her family in Mendocino County California at the age of seven.
